Fate/Grand Order
« on: June 26, 2017, 10:35:41 pm »
As some of you are already aware, the mobile game Fate/Grand Order has gotten a US release. For those of you who are new to the game, welcome to hell. The early game is hardest due to lack of access to ascension materials. If you can miraculously roll a Jeanne, you'll be good for a while. She's currently the only servant who you can max level right now, since she only needs servant pieces and monuments. Skills will also eat up your mats, so watch your stocks. Our first limited Servant should be Gilgamesh and should be coming relatively soon. The first actual event with story will be the Moon Goddess event, featuring Orion's permanent addition to the summoning pool, bringing Artemis' giant tiddies with him.

Here's a few tips for you:
As of now, there are currently only 5 permanent SSRs in the gacha. Artoria, Attila, Jeanne, Waver, and Vlad III. If you want any of those (Lookin' at you, Rev), now would be the time to whale for them. Even if they are going to be lackluster compared to later servants.

Waver supports are your friend, especially if he's been ascended at least once, and most effective with all three of his skills unlocked. All his skills give boosts to NP gauge. His first skill (Critical damage up) gives 30% gauge to whoever the target is. His second and third skills (defense and attack up respectively) give 10% across the whole party.

If you put the effort in to raise them, a lot of the bronze servants will still be useful even in the later stages of the game. Hans is a great support caster, Asterios can, with enough NP spam, practically negate all damage done to your entire team. He's been known to do this against one of the bosses in chapter 7.

Siegfried (AKA Sumanai) is also shit.

Gacha rates for gold servants are absolute shit. Prepare for much salt.

Siegfried (AKA Sumanai) is also shit. He'll be good in France because of all the dragons but not much else besides that. Even after two buffs in the JP version he's still not great.

If you get a Herc, and raise him and his skills high, he is one of the best servants in the game, even through the toughest events the game will throw at us.

As for friend IDs, well I guess those should go here too.

Mine is 453,314,890.

Also side note jesus christ there are so many things I dislike about the english version already. Mostly UI things but the translations are not exactly the greatest either.

If you have any specific questions pester me and I'll try to answer them.

I have considered potentially going for the US version... I'm assuming JP accounts don't transfer over then?

My friend code is 615,729,491. For those of you out of region like myself, you're able to play via downloading APKPure and then downloading the game through that. Just don't download the Japanese version by accident :D.

GJ's criticisms of the English version are definitely valid. This translation isn't quite Moon Dwellers or Katakana/Hiragana bad, but it's not good at all. There's some juicy screenshots floating around Twitter showing off terrible comma usage, spelling mistakes, and strange dialogue options, but even without these outright errors there's a lot of stilted dialogue. It's really sad given the size and accessibility of this (despite the region locking) that they didn't spend any time at all polishing off the story, which is very much the meat of the game. It has the hallmarks of being rushed out the door rather than gone over thoroughly by an editor and QA. They probably hired multiple translators to speed things up which has led to lore inconsistencies, too.

Oh, and if you add me and your name isn't obvious, let me know - I got a lot of friend requests so I don't want to lose you~

Currently using 3 different Android devices to rerolol, trying to space them out so I only have one doing the initial download at a time.... Lost count of how many times already since launch, but managed to get at least have 5* Vlad and 5* Artoria so far.

But man, going from 6% for 5* in FE Heroes to 1% in F/GO is pretty rough. :o

Also the font bothers me for some goddamn reason. It looks like something out of an amateur translation of a doujin.

I decided I was going to take what I was given. I got 4* Carmilla, and on my next roll got another of her and Elizabeth Bathory. Could have been worse - one of my friends said my Carmilla carried him through some early grinding :D

As to the font, I'm not font specialist I admit, so I'm not super bothered - asides from them not being able to master the art of line breaks - but I saw a screenshot where they used several different fonts on the same screen. GG guys.

Indeed, an Assassin is a good thing to have in the early stages of the game. Lots of Rider enemies in France.

As for me, my only 4* is currently Emiya. And miraculously, when I fed him all the free XP and Fou cards I got a Super Success and now he's level 33.

I got a Great Success on Carmilla and she got to Level 38 :D. Also, people should email [email protected] and let them know about your concerns, like translation quality and font choice. Do be polite when doing so, of course, but make it know that this is definitely an issue. There's no excuse for this sort of thing. I don't blame the translators, mind you - I'm thinking the higher ups wanted the game out FAST. QA is cheap, but takes time, and they didn't want to put in the effort because they know people will play and pay anyway.

Ok, just rolled what will be my main account, with 5* Zhuge Liang (Lord El-Melloi II) along with Chevalier d'Eon, Emiya, and Tamamo Cat.

Since I'm keeping Vlad for my alt account, and probably can't be stuffed working a third account, anybody interested in taking up the account where I rolled 5* Altria Pendragon (sic)? This account also has Elisabeth Bathory, and a handful of decent Craft Essence (the best being the 5* Limited/Zero Over).

Started playing last night, having a lot of fun already even if I only made it through the first story arc so far~

The issues people are talking about do seem problematic, though Elvis hasn't been bothered by anything so far personally.

As for rolling, didn't reroll- also not really using any of the guys I did get via rolling; sticking to the default 'Shielder'+Saber Lily and any other freebies I get later, seems fun that way, and I won't have to worry about trying to get certain people or anything.

As for friendship, feel free to add me~ My code's 867,806,074

Damn, I only just realised you get a free 10x Friend Point Summon per day, and missed out on Day 1's roll.

Well, the drop rate for FP summon is pretty low it seems, so not a big loss I guess.

Heroes already took over my life so I'll have to pass, but I might eventually cave in mobage aren't fun unless you start 1 month behind everyone after all. Let's all try to survive mobage hell.

Remember that you can change gender any time you want~

If you decide to play, Marx, I'll be sure to add you so you can be escorted by the lovely Carmilla.
