Pal, you're RPing. But so is everyone else. Nobody means anything they say. But mafia is a game of accusations, or being pointed, of your every explanation being doubted. Because among us there are the mafia and independents, whose objective is to actually kill every town. If you hate people doubting your affiliation because of your responses and actions, then it's fine. But losing your cool because of it it's opposite in every way to mafia's spirit. Calm down and think of a way to convince people. Explain your actions.

"In regards to myself, I targeted the young prince of Leonster. Unless there is another redirector, which would be quite ridiculous I might add. Tomes don't last forever, and I have but a few spare uses of them, but I do have a variety of staves for more... subtle approaches, even if they are similarly limited (which is why I took no action on the first night). Saying more would paint a big target over me and limit what I can do to help, I fear. The sage looked at his apprentice, which was clearly tremendously exhausted by what he accomplished for the night.

"No. If the Ylissian princess did really follow me (her wording was ambiguous), then she can attest that I didn't target our late Robin here. While it may be morbid to say it, you know I wouldn't leave such a... mess. That is reserved to either arcane magic or physical weapons. Still, that you're able to fight on your own and even doubt me like this makes me proud. "

The man, while weary, looked proudly at Erk... before his visage changes abruptly.

"But Erk... you know you aren't able to hide things from me. The magic you're using is exhausting you tremendously. I don't believe you can keep up from much longer. Yet, it doesn't seem to be a fundamentally different magic than the one our arcane mage here uses. Do you have anything else you wish to speak of... or does the arcane mage have the help from more fundamental powers?"

The sage wandered about the ramparts of Ostia. Such a powerful castle, ruled by an even more powerful marquis. Yet neither were now of any help in their current plight. His Etruria was close, so close, with his sweet Louise in their castle, perhaps already preparing for the birth of their firstborn.

"... I'm here if you ask. But I'm afraid I don't have much share. While my magic is powerful, tomes don't last forever, and staves even less. Now, while I'm mostly known for them, that's not the end of me. Perhaps later this day I'm allowed to demonstrate..."

As he said his words he sent a look of caution towards the young prince.

"... if you allow me, I'll be very much looking forward to your actions, prince Leif."

J-rock is just now inevitable in anything with an anime aesthetic. I personally don't mind much this time as the song is at least somewhat fitting (and I love J-rock), but I've seen times where it's truly clashing, so you have my sympathies.

It seems they are going for a more traditional tale, though the larger scale of everything sounds pretty interesting.

The sage smiled upon seeing his apprentice, and let out the breath of worry he had unconsciously held. The situation still seemed worrisome, but seeing a close friend still fine made it all easier to weather.

"I'm just relieved to see you're fine Erk. Normally I would outright give you some of my magic, but I fear we're in a situation where we might need every last bit. Do you think you can go on?... Also, if you used your magic for something last night it might be insightful to hear about it. I completely trust your judgment Erk, so share it only if you see a benefit to it."

He then turned towards the green-haired bard and the young brunet. The mage had not reacted favorably to having his identity revealed, but he could sympathize with him. Hiding your identity to avoid a civil war was a step ahead of most Etrurian nobles. The other youth meanwhile looked young, but his resolve was another thing entirely. While his armour was a shining white and he looked like the prince of any nation, his words and movement had a weight that most lacked. For whatever wicked reason it was, that child- nay, that man had seen combat.

"... If you don't mind me asking Prince Lewyn, I would also like to know if that confirmation indeed means you were the one. I can understand the nobility of standing in place of one with such an unrewarding job like a jailer, but miscommunication can be deadly, and it seems weird to update the table just like that."

The night had passed in but an instant. The sage had spent the night in his room, absorbed in his books. Truly, without Louise to take care of him he wouldn't sleep nor eat as long as the tomes were interesting.

Yet the vision in this morning was strong enough to shake all the sleepiness out of his body.

"... So there is truly an enemy among ourselves? And one that look quite strong too. I pray that your soul finds rest Severa..."

Pent pronounced a quick prayer to St. Elimine. While he preferred anima magic, the power of divine magic and staffs were undeniable. Even if it was for a woman from a different world, he hoped the Goddess' could still reach here.

"... While the enemy looks powerful, I don't have an habit to lose fights. And I don't plan to start now."

Out of curiosity, what parts do you see as clashing? All systems have their quirks, and while alterations and house rules are often needed, completely reworking a system is often more problematic than it's worth. I'd don't know if there are mechanics that you're wanting to keep secret for whatever reason, but I'd recommend discussing what you can with everyone so that the outcome is ideal for everyone.

Being honest, I tend to use the word 'revamping' a lot because it lets me get away with anything, be it if in the end I change whole systems or just a single comma, and it's extremely useful when I'm still on the drawing board. Now, Fate Accelerated system is tremendously flexible from what I've seen, so I won't change a system wholesale. At the same time, I'm extremely paranoid, and I haven't finished reading all the rules to the extend I like, so I'm not sure if in the end I will have to change more or less.

If you want me to be more specific though, the bits I see clashing as of now are mostly 2. First, bare-bones Fate is pretty good mechanically, but precisely because of that, with stunts an attributes both social and in combat it encourages to just use those bits to break through most situations; it's what your characters is supposed to be good at, after all. But with MaidRPG we want more flexible RPing; I don't want to player to tell me if he's being forceful or careful, I want to read it, and I know sometimes an approach doesn't have to be any of the attributes or maybe a mix of various. I want to maintain that nuance in some way.  Now, this is not a big change (I won't destroy the attributes), but it requires me to likely add some rulings and probably a new rule or two. The second is related to combat, and it's basically an extension of what Arraxis said. Combat in Fate is tremendously free-form, and I plan you all to have some fun with that. But at the same time besides attributes it relies on one combat stunt to start, which is a number a bit lacking compared to what we want. Further, Maids are Maids because adalstier, not because they're super-humans. If a stunt that doesn't require using your element is the same as one without, it not only breaks the setting, it's also simply better because you won't ever suffer adalstier poisoning. I thus want to in some way restrict stunts that don't work with your elements: if it's swinging a sword or shooting a gun, the Administration has thousands of soldiers that can do that. Maids are maids because of their elements. At the same time I don't want to leave you without some 'standard combat' stunts for your Maid.

I dislike sharing details when I'm still not sure of them, but one thing I was thinking of is just make each element its own 'character' in Fate terms, with its own aspects and stunts. Maids of that element are thus able to use those stunts pertaining to that element (maids with only one element get a respectively higher bonus). The idea is to scale down the modifiers (or scale up everything else), so that to truly get an important bonus a maid has to work to combine both her element and personal stunts. This will naturally create the kind of inventive fights Wooly and me were searching for, while nerfing any non-element approach. That's my idea, but it requires to me a bit more familiar with the system before I can have some solid rules.

The sage resurfaces from his thought when hearing the name of his dear apprentice- nay, foster son really. Letting a smile form up in his lips, he wonder whether to call to him or simply stay quiet and enjoy the situation; Erk always became really stiff around him, trying with all his might to not let him down, but he really also wanted to see him loosen up and have fun. And while the St Elimine nun and the Ostian spy ddin't look like the best friends of his apprentice, they certainly were managing to loosen him up.

A feeling interrupted his thoughts. Nay, two sensations, each darkly different. Firts, the women who was embracing the princess-looking girl; something about her was... eerie. He was used to perceiving magic talent, but calling whatever she had 'magic talent' would be an insult. The closest thing he could think of were some of Nabata's inhabitants, but even that felt unsuitable. Still... despite being so obvious it was strangely subdued. Like the power itself was sluggish, half-asleep.

The second was less powerful, but more nitid. Much more nitid. Pent was an experienced magic user, and he had seen, spoken and studied plenty of the spirits that powered the anima magic. Yet not even with the Archsage had he ever felt such a collection of spirits surrounding any man. Wind spirits concretely. They weren't struggling, or nervous, they were just calmly surrounding the green-haired bard, as if...

"As if singing..."

He let his steps take him towards that man. His worn down robes and the bard disguise might have fooled most of them, but now that his attention was focused on him he could clearly see the truth. Despite the stains and tears of travel, the tailorship was exquisite, and the flute he carried was both lacquered and had golden motifs that even the dirt couldn't hide. Not to mention his posture and aura. It was indeed common in Etruria for noble sons in search of adventure to disguise as bards to escape their parents, and he would bet anything that the station of the man in front of him was higher than almost any of them.

"Hello there. My name is Pent, Count of Reglay and Mage-general of Etruria, though I'm afraid the lands I speak of are unknown in this world. May I ask for your name my lord? And, if you forgive me being blunt, who are you?"

A robed men raises, and while he's looking at everything surrounding him with a look of interest and befuddlement, at the same time he does not appear as worried as any sane man should be in his situation.

"To think that there is a magic so powerful it can cross the boundaries of time and space... Yet despite being a different world, I can feel the spirits of this world just as well as my old one... Maybe this is the fabled world beyond the Dragon Gate? But the voice spoke about more than one world. Could there be a net of gates beyond that...? No, wait! Before that I wasn't even in Valor when I got transported, I was with Louise en route to Aquileia. So it has to be something that doesn't require any special disposition of runes and spiritual forces... Maybe Arcane magic? Not, but divine could also work if the source was-"

The man dragged on, mumbling his own thoughts, lost in his own world as he pondered.

  • Some weapons will be upgradeable. Not all. It seems to simply to be IS' response to their own powercreep with the latest prf weapons. I fear however it will end creating even more powercreep (seriously, some of the bonus there appear insane) and in some months it's likely a lot more weapons end up being upgradeable.
  • Book 2 of the story. If you didn't get it already that heroes was a reenactment of Ragnarok with all the references, now it basically hits you on the nose. The CGI scene though is very cool
  • Dorcas is in the game and he talks about mutton and trusting nobody. Oh, and Mia, Lute and Joshua are in too (Joshua is ironically a free reward in the next Tempest Trial)
  • A new Choose your Legends contest soonTM
  • Healers get buffed by strengthening their healing and attack skills (they still do half-damage though), and some other skills are also buffed.

I'm honestly planning on revamping the entire system, as there are a lot of bits that seem to clash. I would just say to think an adalstier stunt for now, and let me worry about the implementation later.

If you have any other worry say them though! I have my own list of thing to work on, but as I have a lot less time now I might miss something or have to rush through it!

Honestly, I wouldn't say it's even bad. It's just mediocre. All of this is my personal opinion:

The combat is simple hack & slash. There are some tactical elements, but in general most fight are easy enough to not have to bother (I didn't play the game in higher difficulties though). That's a problem, because it means the game ends up not adding anything distinctive to its combat (like Warriors thousands of enemies or other series being very fast-paced), so it's just a bit meh. I do remember there existed an overcomplicated crafting system for Ragnite, but I honestly don't remember anything else about it.

Stylistically things were more mixed. The artsyle grew to me, but the game constantly struggled to keep its aesthetics, with some side-characters looking very different and some mech designs outright clashing with everything else. It was also very low budget overall.

The script was a mess too. The idea was good, and I remember there being some real meat to the game, but the execution itself felt really lacking; they were simply too ambitious and didn't have neither the adequate system, writers nor the budget to do it justice. One of the main problems is that besides the princess and villains, the story gives really important roles to NPCs that don't fight at all, all while the characters that are doing the fighting feel lacking in the development and story importance department. As they are either only there for plot or fighting, and most aren't really that likeable, it's hard to care about them or the war at all.

It's main fault however I will say it's that it ends being simply too forgettable. I'm personally struggling to remember details (If I make a mistake, correct me without worries!) about it and it's only been months since I played it
