I pike your reference sheets Wooly ~ perhaps we add another for known common spells each char knows? Seems more sensibile and realistic to have a listing than just making up random stuff ad hoc.

Celica listens to Robin's explaination quietly but eventually nods. "You characterize him well Miss Robin.  I don't know if he is this 'Mason' you speak of, but certainly many strange occurances have come since we have arrived. If you follow the Divine Dragons as you say, and your strategy is being able to help my husband, than yes, I shall place my trust in you. Beyond my personal feelings, the people of Valentia need thier king. I once was told in my days at the priory that virtues of trust, like hope, are a simple thing to extend but can lead to wonderful things. Perhaps we can counter out whatever evils are lurking about together as Prince Lewyn suggested."

Celica’s gives a respectful nod to Lewyn, as deserving of his station. “ I must say that I’m surprised to to find a man of royal blood masquerading as a bard, but I am grateful for your council Prince Lewyn.  It might be due to my training as a priestess, but I still maintain hope that the virtue of divinity will illuminate the right path.  I will always do my best to assist and prevent anymore bloodshed, if I can.”

With a gracious smile, Celica also bows her head to Robin, “Thank you sincerely Miss Robin, was it?  I-“, she is stopped by the statement by the blue haired swordswoman who…..is Robin’s daughter?  They don’t trust one another?  I don’t really understand – perhaps Miss Robin’s daughter grew up in a similar situation as my own in Zofia?  Could Miss Robin be a concubine?   Their familial background quickly went on the backburner tho, as Lucina accused Robin of visiting her own quarts.

“My door?”, her eyebrow raised.   ”I don’t recall anyone visiting me last night.  Now my curiosity is piqued – if this blue haired lady is correct, why did you seek me out Miss Robin?  Please, between us women - Were YOU the one who “dueled” with my Alm?,” Celica looked back with intensity.

With the ever-present feeling of someone or something watching him, Jannti did his best to maintain a calm composure while being vigilant for anything.  Even if  the sky was darkening, he felt it fairly daft for anyone to attempt to accost a well-armed samurai in the middle of a city, but this was the Coast – and anything was possible with these people.  His hand on his blade, he backtracked and took numerous turns to throw off anyone who may be following, but still the feeling remained.  Even with a roundabout route, he eventually arrived at his destination, the inn  – The Laughing Hare.  Jannti didn’t think there was anything especially remarkable with the establishment, but as far as inns go, it was clean, well maintained, and most importantly – he was familiar with it.

Walking into the establishment, he was greeted by a woman behind the desk.  Jannti thought nothing about the lady’s recognition of him even after a week or so.  It just seemed to him a testament of the infrequency of Imperial troops frequenting the establishment close to the city gate.  Good.  Less visibility the better.  Even if the room is inadequate for whatever Lady Siar needs, I can rest up and leave the city tomorrow with unperturbed.  Just need to maintain appearances and keep on my guard…

“Yes please.  I had a comfortable stay last time.  I’m not sure if I’ll be staying in town again long term due to business.  Not that anything interesting happens for us down here, just odds taskers.  This past week I rescued a dog from a retired blacksmith, but first thing he did when we got him back to back to the consul’s home was make a bolt for the door…,” Jannti breaks a smirk and guffaws at his joke.  Clearly due to the alcohol, right?  Rubbing away a tear from his eye, he places his payment for a room on the desk.

Once he was shown to his room, Jannti immediately shut and locked the door behind him.  After listening quietly beside the door to hear if anyone was walking down the corridor for a few moments. Following a bout of silence, Jannti moved to sit on his bed and pulled out black metal hilt from earlier for another inspection as he began to enjoy his simple dinner - a small loaf of pumpernickel bread.

Celicia looks at Alm, and does best to mask her emotions. "I did not hear anything of a ....duel..," the last last left a distaste in her mouth. At least that much sounds right - he always is overly stubborn and prone to battles.."..last night husband. My quarters, were unshared. I do hope you are not confusing me with and having 'night duels' with others...>>" she days with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

" Tho, If anything, I would prefer a peaceful solution to our situation, but the passing of this poor girl seems to indicate that there is none."

As the handsome green haired bard spoke, Celica stopped her prayer. Hes right. Theres no time for mourning when the plots of evil are underway! Her own heart was in pain, but perhaps..this was a sign. A trial to overcome from Mila. One thing was sure, she had to act. Not only for the soul of poor Severa, but forbthe good of the land...and Alm, regardless if he shunned her. If evil magicks were afoot, she would snuff it out!

"You..are very right sir bard. We all need to band together to right this wrong. Theres a agent of evil afoot, and we need to snuff  this person out and bring justice." , she says standing, he hand raising her blade at the call to arms.

"Correction on your information sir bard. I took no action last night, but I also saw no indication of me being 'busdriven' or 'position switched'. If i look disheavled this morning its....", her eyes glance sideways at Alm. " Simply because I had a very rough evening and had trouble sleeping."

Unexpectantly, Jannti sees a flash of… something emanate from the hilt.  Normally he’d chalk it up to his drinks, but the sultry and confident voice is unmistakable.  Rigidly, his muscles become taunt, and he comes to attention in his seat.  He was unsure if this was due to his surprise, the fact that he had mentally committed to obeying her as his mistress, or perhaps….remebering the pain from his last encounter  Yes, my lady., he answered back in thought. Clearly she had been watching him this entire time….had others heard her commands too?  Even disregarding his Tavaniran sensibilities to magical matters, how would others react if they knew? He didn’t want to stay around and find out.

Quickly putting the hilt away, Jannti decided to down the last of his drink (if he was to endure more of the special treatment he had as last time, he might as well) as he scanned around to see if he could place a face to the unease he had.  Leaving his payment, he decided it best to depart.  His hand on the hilt of his nodachi warily, he began walking to the inn near the SE gate- where he stayed previously.  He had no idea what was to be expected from him in this “dark communion”.  Whether this would suffice for his mistress’ wishes, he did not know.  It certainly was not as isolated at the dolemns of the Violet Fields, but it was a familiar place and one safe from whatever or whoever else was watching him.

Celica leaves her room, dark shadows under her eyes as from not sleeping.  Seeing husband in the distance pains her immensely. How could he...forget? Clearly this was some sort of sinister plot.  Unfortunately, she sees that the two aren't alone - and does her best to mask her pain.

"Ah, what is going on?", she says as she approaches the group, he face now stoic.  It only takes a moment to see the horror of the slain girl.

"Mila... please.... NO!" , she exlaims before setting on her knees. Holding the fallen girls hand, she immediately begins to pray. She prays not just for the soul of young Severa, but Alm, and the safety of everyone.  Where is our peace? Where is our mercy?

Interesting. thought Jannti as the dwarven shopkeeper elaborated candidly upon the nature of his items. The sheer nature of coming into a store of such contraband made him uncomfortable, but he was truly grateful to have some disclosure as to his possessions without broadcasting them to the world. The appraisal of the gem was a surprise, but then, he knew that it must have been valuable if commanded by her.  His throat felt dry as he began to secure the stone back into his gauntlet.

"Thank you sir, I do appreciate you spending your valuable time." , he said proffering a respectable bow of the head before leaving some coins as thanks for the effort. He knew that such a gesture wasn't needed, but it just felt right. Perhaps he still thought of the dwarven man who died honorably in Penrith trying to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. Pay it forward Jannti, pay it forward for those to follow., he thought.  Death is the inevitable truth for us all, only how we die and what we die for matters.

* * *

Jannti found himself leaning back in a chair of a beer garden across from a garish building which he could have only assumed to be the Dragoncrest Guildhall.  At least he assumed as much by the clientele - clearly paying no mind at the displeased stares he was receiving. He wasn't sure how long he'd been there, but based upon the three empty flagons in front of him, and one half full in his hand, it had been awhile. Not that he cared, but the words spoken to him earlier had cause him to think about matters more than he cared.

"...creatures of hell gives these to their champions..."

Hefting the strange black metal hilt in his sword hand, he took another swig of his drink. Is this what I am now? Without honor, I fled like a craven, not once, but twice because I couldn't affect a change in the outcome. I should have died with my squad that day...I should have died..for her. What have I been doing these past twenty years now?  Given an opportunity for redemption, for honor...and I did it again...  Perhaps it was the drink, or the sting of the memory,  but his eyes and throat burned.  "DAMNIT ALL!" , he roared in an spontaneous outburst, knocking the empty flagons crashing onto the ground.  Recovering from his lack of control, amidst many hushes stares, he decides to take another swig of his drink.

I sought power in desperation, and now that I have it within my hands, I'm questioning my conviction.  Theres no time anymore.  Lunavira, Minnoe......Lady Asahina... Gripping the hilt tightly, he knew he had come to a decision.  If she.....no...., he corrects himself. If MY Lady Siar desires me as her champion, then so be it.   Having come to his internal decision, his muscles...relaxed and he put away the hilt.

Setting down his drink softly, he calls out to a server. "Another...please."
