My Little Dictator / Re: General News

It sure has been a while...

This Summer has involved a lot of new work, fun and games, as we push forward with My Little Dictator. Locked away in a study, Fox has been hard at play, coming up with all kinds of fun new scenarios, battles and character arcs.

Scenario writing and proofing focused on several periods this summer - The Battle of Norda (Norway), The Battle of Franzo (France), The Gyptan Campaign (The North African Campaign), The Grecian Campaign (Greece) and plenty of dumb non-historical stuff. Both are very unique and interesting campaigns. With this focus on including some historical reference and parody, it's been difficult deciding how paths branch and decisions are made. Once the player begins to leave some semblance of a recognizable timeline, the game becomes somewhat more fantastical. So far, we've managed to keep branching paths following a similar form of timeline with choices affecting character interactions and some smaller theaters of war. As such, there are a few false endings and quick branches to prevent too much of a secondary timeline emerging.

A lot of work was done on icons and insignia for the multiple infantry, mechanized and aircraft divisions of the war. Many of these are tweaked from their original counterparts, which could be fun for any amateur historians familiar with the different divisions. Along with this, a command structure is in place to show the player the layout of Hitora's Inner Circle and the government of the fictional reich.

Some more structure for the dating sim elements was worked through so it's a little more complicated to choose routes. This extra difficulty will hopefully make it more of a challenge for the player.

The battle engine is now getting a decent boost and being pushed forward with new team members. After issues with coders leaving the project and overcomplexity in the engine, we've tried to simplify it down to its most basic elements. It will be more of a parody element, like the rest of the game, used to poke fun and enhance the sillier aspects of the story. Pixel art continues apace, with new tanks being made. This month alone saw finalized art for a SOMUA S35, Char B1/B1 bis, FCM 2C, BT-42 and Matilda, Infantry Tank Mk.I, A11.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to support this project. Sorry for the radio silence the past few months. This game has plenty of fans and more opportunities should be taken to communicate, take on board ideas and provide grounds to build and test more.

We hope you continue to support our games in development and that we continue to make games you’ll love!

A bunch of Invert Mouse games are on sale this week: http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/2684/InvertMouse_Bundle/ Anybody here play their catalog and have recommendations if it's worth the $17.74? I've played a few of their demos plus the first Without Within and really liked those, but haven't played any of their full games.

If you want to know what the view was like from Berkeley, just look at the background color of the forum, it's a pretty accurate representation.

About 60 more "dumplings" to go before clearing out all of the ascension pieces and monuments, which are about the only things I planned to get out of the store, besides the first Moonlight Fest CE.

Once that's done, I doubt I'd bother farming the dango needed for anything else in the store, since they're not really that time or AP efficient. Will probably just hit the 30 AP one as often as my AP recharges, for more Hearts.

P.S.
The event story was great, especially when it leans on the 4th wall.

Atticus cracks a little grin. "While I would normally agree on the subject of fate, aren't we all simply living, or, in some cases, un-living puppets for the gods to play with as they will? Besides, as much as your pride might deny it, Caius does have an amount of control over you and Catherine, as slight as it may be. Just as my brother and I are puppets to our parents out of his reverence for them and my young age, they are also puppets of their boss. It could also be said that knightly characters such as yourself are puppets to the concept of chivalry, couldn't it? Sure, we live our lives as we want, but there's always something that dictates what we want and what we can and cannot do. Morality, society, family, personal values, duties, to name a few. Although some of those could be folded into others."

Catherine nods. "Quite a statement for a child. But then, You aren't the Average boy." Atticus simply grins a little wider.
