The slingshot sends that pretty stone sailing at the lady faster than Zoe can follow it. It's almost like it all happened by itself, like she'd just stood there and watched as someone else did it. But that isn't what happened, after all. She remembers moving her hands, getting everything in place, and letting go. The look of panic and confusion, hurt and betrayal, as Miss McClark turned and the stone hit her in the neck.
She thinks back on the first time she remembers bleeding. Just a little drop, from removing a splinter. Well, her mommy removed it; Zoe was too scared. It didn't hurt much, and there wasn't a lot of blood but she cried for a long time. Just a little blood, not a lot, not like now.
It doesn't seem like anyone should bleed that much.
The lady doesn't move. Zoe keeps waiting, but the lady doesn't move. Zoe's hands twitch, her knees knocking together, her eyes burning with unshed tears.
She walks over, a single, miserable step at a time. She just wants to shake the lady until she gets back up, laughs it off, plays with her some more, but she doesn't do that. She wants to cry, to curl up and hide until everything's over, but she doesn't do that either.
She picks up the rock, pulling it right out of the wound in the lady's neck. Hot red blood coats her hand and she wants to wipe it off. She wants to, but... but that boy's there and he's laughing, he's happy, because she's winning. And she isn't allowed to stop.
Suddenly, the body lifts off the ground. Not like standing, not like life, but like a doll- Zoe screams, but it doesn't do any good. Then the body floats up to the ceiling, and, covered in a faint, eerie glow, passes right on through and out of sight.
Zoe leaves the room.
There's someone else here, she knows. Someone else, and she's still 'it'. Into the kitchen, nothing there for her. Not hungry, never hungry again, never eat again, not even chocolate, it looks too bad when it melts, it melts, it melts, and then it's just like red
There's a bridge ahead. Zoe doesn't want to go across it. It's a big drop and she'll never get back up if she falls. Her feet carry her anyway, and the sound of her sobs echo through the massive chamber. She doesn't fall, because she can't fall, she knows that, but she's still scared. She almost thinks it would be better if she did, because then everyone would be safe.
From her. From that boy, and the rock, and
But she makes it, and heads right into the other side, and Brandon's there. There were animals here too once, but they're all dead, everything's dead. Brandon's dead too. He will be. She doesn't say anything this time; there isn't much to say.
Zoe just fires her slingshot again before the boy even turns around. Maybe it won't be as bad if she doesn't have to watch his eyes. Maybe. Maybemaybemaybe.
Moving four spaces to get to the Menagerie (wonder if I get a Physical thingy too~ More speed'd be nice!) and attacking Brandon with the Bloodstone.
