News and Updates / Re: Rising Angels: Fates weekly updates
« on: November 09, 2014, 02:28:42 am »
Saturday night means that it is time for another weekly update. A game screenshot of an event after saving Kika is included this week. Not a CG, mind you, but just a show of some assets in play.

The biggest thing is that even if is fairly new to most people, I've been working with this series for a decade. I've told a lot of stories with these characters in this setting. Part of me just wants to take a long break and put some of the burden of studio running down for a while. Of course, just like a heroin junkie, I keep taking another shot. Quite frankly, there is an opening for a continuation of the series in the existing outline. Not with Natalie as the main character, but it is there. Will I take it? We'll see when we get closer. I guess it all depends on how the other studio project does at release time.

All things aside, I'm confident you'll do well. You're dedicated and content is improving over time. You've definitely already convinced me for the future!
Thank you very much. It's been a long and painful road getting this far.

It wouldn't be a Saturday night without a weekly update! I'm rather fond of doing weekly updates. They might have a lot of content some weeks, but they keep me honest.

Fates is going to be the conclusion of the series though. Can't let a story run forever.
One piece is trying very hard though :)
(though even that is nothing compared to the likes of Sazea-san etc)
One Piece is a good example of why I don't intent to let RA run forever. After working so hard to save the universe, Natalie needs to take a break and enjoy the universe she just saved... if she saves it. Or if it can be saved at all...

We don't execute people here for making us wait. We do it for other, much more important, things, like stealing cookies or lying about cake.
Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test.

Now that's some veritable fan-service! x3

A shame to hear the months of work you put into the game came to an abrupt conclusion due to issues, especially when you're getting flak for it. The CG revealed shows considerable promise and I'm positive it'll greatly enchance the first game. If all 3 titles are good in their own right, I reckon the series might really spike some major attention.

Best of luck with the projects!
Yeah, it was something like 21 months of development hell. The Rising Angels series has been running/developing since early 2011. Fates is going to be the conclusion of the series though. Can't let a story run forever.

It's that time of the week again. Sadly, the daki and wall scrolls are a bit behind schedule, so no update there. I also have been kept busy with the studio's other main project and my day job. I spent too many early mornings in the rain this week.. It's an RPG, so there has been a bit of a running gag that we should let Fates run off of the combat engine. No mystery can hold up to a good fireball, right?

Sunrider General Discussion / Re: The Sunrider seems a bit too large...
« on: October 23, 2014, 11:38:05 pm »
Even with more technology, the number of crew needed would have to be drastically larger than 50. The sheer number of moving parts means there are massive amounts of things that could break. You'd have to have a very large crew of mechanics and maintainers to support it. If you didn't, you would have a very, very, very bitter engineer who would never know the meaning of sleep or reading time. Not even from constantly fixing things, just from having to run up and down the ship all day. Then there is the need for a decent sized security team to cover that amount of ship. Can't forget the personnel to do the paperwork and other support functions.

Answer: Lots and lots of those little mouse droids from Star Wars. With lasers attached to their heads. Case closed!

Don't feel oblidged to release what you do not wish to. Regardless, I reckon it might offer enthusiasts a peek into your development as a writer. Rising Angels: Reborn was a veritable hit in my book. Amateur writers or fans of what you produce could learn from how far you had to come to really get the ball going.

Great stuff on that 4th update there. To prevent those annoying deletes, I usually type my text in notepad after which I can trim & tweak without losing the bulk of it due to some issue with a site. Keep it up!
I'm right now letting a very small number of people take a look at it. If it isn't AS terrible as I know it is, I will consider letting select pieces back out into the world.

I was writing it in a text editor. I was hitting ctrl-c to paste it into the window just as the program suddenly locked up and crashed. Curse words could be heard from my office for an hour.

One more reason for me to play Rising Angels: Reborn.

Also how did I not notice the Rising Angels section of the forums until now?
I dunno, it has totally been there since the forums were made. >.>; Totally.

Gasp! All of my secrets revealed!!!

There were a large number of issues with the development of Red Rose, which lead to a premature release. It was very soundly criticized and I almost quit developing entirely. People had some choice words with it and I still get regular hate mail over it. Instead, I panicked, wrote a new storyline, and released Rising Angels: Reborn. I think things worked out for the best, considering Reborn is a good story.

That being said, I still haven't quite given up on Red Rose. I've been working in my scarce free moments on writing additional scenes, polishing up others, and removing a few things from the story to help fix the flow and bring the story to a conclusion. CG are also being added to the story. I think we've got 9 planned CG; I'd have to check my records. It even got a new title, Rising Angels: Hope. Unfortunately, this is a hobby project and behind the two main projects being worked by the studio. I can't give any sort of deadline, but the intent is to have it out before Fates.

I suppose I can share one of the CG (and one of the very, very, very few "fan service-y" in my projects). Just as a little treat for everyone not calling for my execution for making you all wait so long.

Other Games / Re: Next VN to try out (apart from Sunrider)

I was rather fond of Muv Luv. The graphics were nice, the story was interesting, and there were only a few dozen moments where I just wanted to backhand the main character for his mandatory bishoujo idiocy. I think it would have been better if they had dumped the clear plug suits into the first wastebin they pasted and went straight to the colored ones though. I'm a fan of some sexiness in my sci-fi outfits, I admit, but that one threw itself over the line into the realm of pointless distraction.

While Rising Angels: The Red Rose is technically the first in the series, Rising Angels: Reborn is where we restarted and is both the strongest of the series so far and the best starting point. It can be downloaded on Steam, Google Play, and from our website.

Dreams of the Skies is its own independent story and Anton's Vacation... it's a sad story of sorrow. It was once part of the flagship series that I've been writing for a decade. Nobody really read any of the older works, so AV makes little sense to most. Now Rising Angels has taken it over and AV sits around as non-canon material. Of course, I've gotten a lot better as a writer since then, so it is all for the best.
I must know where to find the rest, I don't like incomplete stories. >_>
The rest of AV or the rest of the series as a whole? The rest of AV is locked up behind bars and will likely never be completed. The rest of the series MIGHT be freed one day. I don't know who would want to read 8 year old stories from back when I was an even worse writer.

This week's update is out. I had fun talking about the lead romantic interest, Zuri.

I'll try this out when there's a public release.
It'll be a while, though we do have other works that will be coming out in the meanwhile.

Since I don't troll visit the intro section, I'll greet you here. Welcome to the land of chaos and confusion sci-fi indie devs. (And ww2 games.)
Once I'm finished with the battle, I'll have a look at this new fodder to rip apart game to help to improve drool over.

Also, I like your avy.
Thank you very much!

Sadly, the shipmaster never got his time in the spotlight because his story never got told.

New Games here on Hyperspace?! Cool. I remember someone mentioning your game at some point but since I haven't played the original, I sort of didn't want to have to start half way if you know what I mean. is the first game available anywhere?

Oh never mind. Found it myself. ~I might give this a go~

Browsing the website you linked and already quite impressed with the backlog you've got there!

I'm currently reading up on some of your previous titles. It seems you've labelled your "Rising Angels" series with a few tags but haven't done so for "Dreams of the Skies" or "Anton's Vacation". Reckon they are in the same vein? That is: Non-erotic, drama, slice of life, fantasy-themed novels? Also, this bit on your "Anton's Vacation" page confuses me: "The game contains *** menus." Reckon twas something else before it got accidentally censored?

I'm definitely going to check em out. Don't think they're my favourite type of novel but it seems you've put a lot of work into them so can only praise that. Keep it up!

Not sure why it says that. Not sure why it was posted in the first place. I've grown senile in my old age.

Looking forward to trying out the game when a public release is available.  Best of luck on your endeavors.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Hyperspace Forums! I'll have to give your stuff a look some time. I remember the KS being linked, but I hadn't played the other stuff at the time. With any luck your presence here will remind me to go read Rising Angels!

It's always there for ya! Well, assuming the end of the world doesn't happen. Then it might be there.

Introduce Yourself! / Hello, guv'nor!
« on: October 14, 2014, 02:10:07 am »
Hello, folks! Some of you may know me, most of you probably do not. I am Komi Tsuku, Chief of IDHAS Studios and fellow sci-fi game developer. I'm stoked that you all are willing to have me here! I'm not sure what to say... In addition to writing and producing games, I'm also a flight engineer, the last of a dying breed of sky warriors. My work tends to take me to the far corners of the globe, so you'll occasionally see some strange but true stories from me.
