Title: That Nintendo Thingy. The Switchamacallit.

I figured there might be some more people that're excited for it too! And that maybe it'd be cool to have a place to discuss it, and to add, like, friend codes and stuff, so people can be friends and stuff.

Anyway...

Maybe the day 1 patch fixed it, or maybe the issue has been way overblown (not that these two options are mutually exclusive), but the only way I've been able to "reproduce" this sync issue so fact is by going to about 2 car lengths' distance from the Switch, squatting down while facing away from it, and basically surround as much of my body and limbs as possible around the left Joy-Con.

... I wrote it myself, but that description sounds more like somebody with a painful stomach ache bent over an Asian squat toilet. ;D

I really love the idea behind open world games, but I always lose interest in stuff like Skyrim or Fallout before too long. But I've continued to enjoy Breath of the Wild the entire time I've played it so far, and I think that'll continue~

even if I absolutely suck at it~

It's also my second Zelda game ever, after Link's Awakening. So it might have been a bit of a strange transition~

Which brings me to my second reaction:
It's also more troublesome to quick jump now, since instead of just tapping the Wii U Gamepad touchscreen for who you want to jump to, you need to 1) open the map, 2) press direction for who you want to jump to, 3) press A. This change probably also guarantees that it's impossible to implement Squid Beakons.

Otherwise:
Loving the new maps and weapons, and the adjustments for returning weapons.

Never played the first one, and I suck at shooters entirely, but I'm only mostly awful instead of entirely awful! I think I may pick the game up when it comes out maybe. Plus squid lolis are surprisingly cute.

Also completely unrelated but The Binding of Isaac is awesome and I'm really awful at it.

As well as Switch, the Dark Souls remaster will also be coming to XBONE, PS4 and PC. The xbox edition will apparently be at true 4K resolution, though this probably belongs in a DS thread. Do we have one of those?

Meanwhile, we're also getting Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, combining all of the contents of the Wii U and 3DS versions. Definitely going to grab that, along with TWEWY.

I'm more surprised nobody mentioned that the Direct also revealed a Switch version of Ys VIII (though I heard that NIS America made a huge mess of Ys VIII's localization and basically had to redo it all, dampening people's enthusiasm for the game). And SNK Heroines, for those who were hungry for a fan servicey fighter.

As you may or may not care about, Nintendo's paid online service is gonna be starting soon. I'm planning to pick up the family plan option, ~~allegedly~~ allowing for up to eight different accounts- including on different Switches- to access online. Now of course, I'm gonna be using one slot, and the second is reserved, but there should still be six slots left for anybody that wants one. So basically, leave a post if you'd like to get online for free.

I might not pick it up as soon as it's available, but it'll be within a month, so please have patience as well~ I also reserve the right to remove someone if I deem it necessary but that probably won't come up. One account per person, also! If you have more than one, you'll have to take care of the extras yourself, to be fair to others. ~~Also I doubt it'll come up but you have to already be someone I know, no new accounts mysteriously appearing just to post here~~~

Post by: mikebrand83 on October 14, 2018, 12:58:07 pm: Would personally recommend that as soon as you have Nintendo Network active, go through System Settings > Data Management > Save Data Cloud Backup, then go through the list and run Back Up Save Data on every compatible game.

Nintendo has let the Switch go for so long without any official alternative methods to back up your saved games (*grumbles at Nintendo being Nintendo*), so don�t delay any further before backing up all of your saves to cloud ASAP.
